Trad Camp Lunchtime Concert: Joanne Garton

  • First Congregational Church of Burlington VT 38 South Winooski Avenue Burlington, VT, 05401 United States (map)

Join staff, campers, and guest artists for a free lunchtime concert at Trad Camp!

Trad Camp is a week-long summer camp for youth aged 8-18. It is a concentrated opportunity to be inspired by, learn about and perform tunes, songs, and dances in a variety of traditional styles.

Each day we invite the public to join us for a free (donations accepted) lunchtime concert with one of our guest artists. On Friday, July 28 we welcome fiddler and dancer Joanne Garton. Joanne mixes her pervasive passion for Scottish culture with the drive and rhythms of the New England dance floor. Ten musical years in Montreal and two in Scotland provided ample influence and inspiration for traditional tunes and the art of teaching them. A resident of Montpelier, Vermont for the last 12 years, Joanne teaches music and dance to kids and adults, performs on stage, plays in sessions, and of course, steps out on the dance floor.

Regarding her approach to music and performing, she says, “The tunes inspire a journey. Despite my best intentions to track my route, all I can do is go along for the ride. And I’m overjoyed to do that.”

All ages are welcome. Feel free to bring your own lunch!
