Offered in collaboration with Vermont Story Lab, this course will provide an introduction to the ethnographic method of community-based research and the tools and skills of media-making.

Participants will view a variety of short media examples, will design a question or mini-project idea, and then will head out into town to interview people and gather video, audio, and photographic footage. They will then return to the Folklife Center and will learn to use the tools available to them to edit a short video together on iPods or phones. Participants can work on their own phones or on iPods provided by the Folklife Center.
